Set aboard a luxurious ocean liner and the vibrant streets of Havana, Week-End in Havana follows the charming and spirited Nan Spencer (Alice Faye), a department store salesgirl whose vacation cruise is interrupted by a ship mishap. Determined not to lose her long-awaited holiday, she refuses a refund and insists on continuing her trip. To resolve the issue, cruise line executive Jay Williams (John Payne) is sent to accompany her to Havana and ensure her satisfaction.
What starts as a business obligation turns into a whirlwind adventure filled with tropical music, colorful nightlife, comic misunderstandings, and unexpected romance. As Nan explores the enchanting Cuban culture, legendary entertainer Monte Blanca (Carmen Miranda) brings her dazzling personality and musical flair to the story.
